2020-10-25 PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)

PG&E shut off power at our Crystal Peak (W2XSC) radio site at appoximately 22:25. The site is running on generator power and has over 10 days of fuel on-site. Power is anticipated to be retored by PG&E on Tuesday. Frazier Peak (W4XSC) lost power at 21:13 and is also running on Generator Power. Other areas along the Santa Cruz mountains and the eastern foothills are affected. In all, 36 counties are affected.

Both W2XSC and W4XSC are running on PG&E power.

Key Messages to Amateur Radio Operators

  • Top off your vehicle and generator (if you have one) and obtain cash.
    • Gas pumps and ATM machines don’t work without power
  • Charge your batteries (and backup batteries) and test your radios
  • Monitor your local jurisdiction’s web page(s) and the SCCo ARES/RACES web page for more information
  • Follow your local jurisdiction’s amateur radio procedures for alerts and activations
