A class Instructor is expected to:

  • Meet the requirements defined in the Instructor Qualifications document.

Duties and Expectations

  • Be familiar with these documents and ensure the class material and presentation follows the policies and standards included:

  • Review all prior clasroom material well before the class date, and review prior student evalautions online. If updates are required to the training material, coordinate with the Training Coordinator (TC).
  • Provide any suggested changes to class material to the CRO and TC; they will arrange to get the material posted on the website class page. This should be done no later than two-weeks before the class date.
  • Review the class website to check that all material is current and all links work.
  • A week before the class date, notify class participants that the material is available and remind them of other requirements such as pre-class homework, forms and documents to bring to class, etc. A complete list of these actions can be found in the training-dev groups.io subgroup.
  • For classes at Sunnyvale DPS, reach out to the scheduled class host to confirm they will be available and inform them of your arrival time at the classroom. Copy the CRO and Training Coordinator on that email thread.
  • For classes at the Sheriff’s Office, confirm with the TC that the room has been reserved and obtain a copy of the approved room reservation form.
  • Coordinate with the TC to ensure an ICS-211 form for participant sign-in will be available at the class. If the DPS host is not an EC or AEC they will also need a copy of the ICS-211 form for use in the lobby.
  • Verify with the TC who will be responsible for logging participation in the database after the class.
