ARES/RACES stations generally run from external power when it’s available.
Batteries have limited capacity and should be kept in reserve (or recharged) when external power is available.
External power sources can include building/utility power, generators, solar power, and vehicle power.
Battery Power

All ARES/RACES stations need to have battery power.
External power may not always be available, and may have interruptions.
Most stations need enough battery capacity to last for a 12-hour shift.
Power Distribution

SCCo ARES/RACES uses Anderson Powerpole connectors for 12 volt DC power connections.
Distribution panels connect multiple devices to one power source.
Automatic switches connect a station to multiple power sources.
Special connectors and adapters are needed for some external power sources.
