Handheld Radio Headset

For hands-free operation with a handheld radio, you need some way to listen to your radio and speak into it without having to hold it in your hand. The preferred option is a headset. The other options (earbuds, speaker/mic, etc.) aren’t adequate in a noisy environment: either you won’t be able to hear the radio, or the other end won’t be able to hear you, or both.
Get a headset that only covers one ear, so that you can use it while driving. (It’s illegal to cover both ears while driving.) Also, get a headset that has a PTT switch that you can clip to a convenient location on your chest.
