Mobile Radio PTT Switch

The handheld speaker/mic that comes with a mobile radio has a built-in PTT switch. However, if you use a headset instead of the PTT, you will need a separate PTT switch to go with it.
When operating indoors, a foot-operated PTT switch keeps both hands free. Plastic pedal-like foot switches are common, but they tend to move around on the floor, and give some people ankle fatigue. Local contest operators prefer a heavy, round switch like the Linemaster Gem V2*.
Foot switches are not suitable in outdoor dirt or rain, or in a vehicle. In these cases, use a low-profile hand switch. The hand can’t be used for typing or writing, but can be used to hold down papers while writing.
