Packet BBS Accounts

Any amateur radio operator can connect to any of our BBSes over VHF radio using their FCC call sign. A mailbox will be created for them if they don’t already have one. BBS accounts may be terminated due to inappropriate usage or disuse.

Tactical call signs are used when operating as a function or location rather than an individual. Tactical stations can connect to the BBSes over VHF radio using their assigned tactical call sign as MYCALL rather than their FCC call sign. (They must still take care to transmit their FCC call sign in compliance with FCC rules, in CONV mode or as a JNOS BBS comment.)

Some tactical stations can also connect to the BBS via Telnet with a pre-assigned password. Outpost can be configured to connect via Telnet.

All users are asked to delete messages after reading them to conserve disk space. Messages may be deleted automatically after 180 days.

To maintain the security of the network, every operator is responsible for preventing unauthorized use of their station. Stations that have Telnet access must use secure passwords and keep them confidential.
