Notices and Bulletins
The SCCo BBS systems have three special notice areas, which act like bulletin areas but are specific to SCCo ARES/RACES:
-
xscperm
contains important operational information for SCCo ARES/RACES packet operators. The notices in this area are permanent and change rarely. Only county ARES leadership should post notices in this area. Every station should have copies of these notices downloaded. -
xscevent
contains notices related to an ongoing county-wide event (incident, exercise, or drill). Only event organizers should post notices in this area. Stations operating in that event should monitor this area for important updates. Notices posted here expire after 7 days. -
xsctest
is an area where anyone can post notices for testing. Notices posted here expire after 1 day.
The SCCo BBS systems also have access to standard amateur radio BBS bulletins.
These are organized in topics and distribution areas.
Of particular note in SCCo ARES/RACES operations, city- and agency-specific bulletins are generally posted to XXX
, where XXX
is the three-letter code assigned to the city or agency (see
assignment list).
Generally, bulletins should only be posted in this area by city/agency ARES leadership or in accordance with city protocols.
All stations should monitor their appropriate city- or agency-specific bulletin area, generally by adding
A allxsc L> XXX
to their Outpost configuration (Setup→BBS dialog, “Retrieving” tab, “Custom Retrieval” box).
