County EOC SHARES Radio Orientation

Course Description

This class will prepare operators for working with the SHARES HF radio in the county Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This class is required to earn the County EOC ‘SHARES Radio Operator’ (SRO) Endorsement. After taking the class, you will need to participate in two Wednesday nets using the SHARES equipment at the County EOC to complete the participation credit required for the Endorsement.

Intended Audience

Mutual Aid Communicators who desire to operate the SHARES HF radio at the County EOC.

Prerequisites

• County EOC Radio Operator Endorsement

  This requirement will not be waived unless you are only missing something minor that is pending to complete the requirement. The Credential Program Manager will need to approve any such wavier.

Format

In person, 3.5 hours, some lecture with a lot of hands-on equipment operation. Class size in limited to two people allowing for maximum hands-on use of the equipment.

Students should bring

• Copy of course materials (see below)
• Pen/pencil and pad of paper
