Most city ARES/RACES organizations in the county hold a weekly radio net for practice and announcements. Details on your city’s net are on its city information page.

Cities in the north western part of the county take part in the weekly nets run by SPECS (Southern Peninsula Emergency Communications System).
- Primary net: Mondays at 20:00 on W6ASH 145.270- (PL 100)
- UHF net: Mondays at 19:30 on W6ASH 224.100- (PL 88.5) and W6ASH 440.800+ (PL 100.0) (linked together)

Cities in the central and southern part of the county take part in the weekly net run by SVECS (Silicon Valley Emergency Communications System).

For those interested in HF work, there is an HF net on most Tuesday nights. On any Tuesday night, listen for an announcement during the SVECS net to find out whether an HF net will occur. For questions about the HF net, ask after that SVECS announcement.

Voice and data (Winlink) communication nets using the SHARES radio in the County EOC. Must have taken the SHARES Radio Orientation class. Can be used for one or both of the participation requirements for the SHARES Radio Operator Endorsement (SRO). Held on the 1st - 4th Wednesdays of each month. Prior arrangements need to be made to take part in this net.

- CalWinNet (Winlink data) any time in the 10:00 - 11:00 window

Once a month (except November and December), operators conduct a test using the radio stations at each of the county hospitals.

Quarterly Training Net
Quarterly Training Net
On the third Tuesday of January, April, July, and October, there is a training net to practice message passing and other on-air skills. These are posted in the Training and Events Database and people who wish to participate should sign up in advance. However, everyone is encouraged to listen and learn from the sessions.
