Suggestions for Message Passing

Suggestions for Message Passing

Suggestion for getting the most out of the training session when message passing is the topic. Based on your experience and familiarity of message passing procedures and prowords, use one of the three options below:

Good: Applicable to someone who’s new to message passing in SCCo and who may not have attended any training classes, yet. Follow along with the message as it’s being passed. Listen to the process that’s used, and the prowords that are exchanged.

Better: Applicable to someone who’s attended training classes, but who is not yet comfortable with our proword vocabulary or processes. Review the message ahead of time, and identify what prowords should be used where, referring to classroom materials if necessary (see links above). If you’re sending the message, have your notes available. If you’re receiving the message, put your notes and your advance copy of the message source away while you copy.

Best: Applicable to someone who has attended training classes, and who believes they know our processes and procedures. Don’t look at the message ahead of time, regardless of whether you’re sending or receiving. Practice like this is “real life”, and don’t refer to notes or “cheat sheets”.
