2012 Year-End Summary

Course Description

This class will cover core course materials and operating procedures that have been updated, newly released, or not previously discussed, in the previous 12 months and provide a preview of things to come.

Intended Audience
Any new or experienced hams or MACs that missed any of the core courses presented in 2012 timeframe.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Technician class or higher Amateur Radio license
  • Course: Any of the core courses
Format
In person, 3 hours
Students should bring
  • Copy of course materials (see below)
  • Pen/pencil and pad of paper
Learning Objectives
  • Packet Network
    • Describe the BBS all sign changes that occured this year
    • Describe the site improvements that were completed this year
    • Describe the function of the new BBS network gateway
    • Properly address packet messages for all destinations
  • Net Control
    • Perform proper net hand-off procedure
    • Be aware of new 3-class format
  • AlertSCC
    • Sign up for AlertSCC notifications
  • Message Passing
    • Use the proper prowords for passing message content
    • Properly transmit an ICS-213 Message Form
    • Properly transmit informal messages
    • Properly deal with message passing problems
  • Staffing Policies
    • Understand the new staffing policies when working with the Red Cross or other NGOs
  • Resource Net
    • Understand the meaning of each of the three Resource Net levels
  • Activation Process
    • Understand the proper procedure for activations
