Morgan Hill ARES/RACES/CERT Drill

Date: 08/22/26 Start: 9:00 AM End: 3:00 PM Location: Morgan Hill EOC (MHPD)
Credential Credit (What's this?): No

On Saturday Aug 22nd a simulated earthquake will hit Morgan Hill.  After checking on the safety of our families, those RACES and CERT volunteers who are available will join a City response that will include opening and staging at the CERT cache (Morgan Hill Bus Yard at 105 Edes St), deploying the CERT trailers, staffing the EOC radio room, and establishing communications between the trailers, EOC, Morgan Hill field responders, and the Santa Clara County EOC.

As part of this drill the neighborhoods of Holiday Lake and Jackson Meadows will be testing their local GMRS radio network and establishing communications with the CERT trailers.  We will support all neighborhoods that would like to join our exercise using GMRS, FRS, or amateur radio.

The earthquake will occur at 9:25am, Saturday Aug 22nd.

Amateur radio operators will check-in on the Morgan Hill TAC 1 VHF frequency (146.49 MHz) for instructions.  Those RACES members with EOC Access IDs will report to the EOC radio room.

CERT volunteers will deploy to the Morgan Hill Bus Yard after 10:00am and stage at the CERT cache located in the back of the bus yard.  Radio communications will be established from the cache to the EOC and further deployment instructions provided.  CERT volunteers can also check-in on GMRS channel 17 (462.6000 MHz) or the CERT repeater on channel 17 (462.6000 MHz with repeater function on).

Additional training or resource familiarity will be provided at each of our locations as the scenario progresses.  All volunteers regardless of experience level are encouraged to join us for whatever time period you have available, and sign-up using the link below.
