Event Detail and Sign Up

Santa Clara County  wide sheltering / earthquake  Drill.  This sign-up is for participation at the county level.

Start time is morning 0830  for all operators.  This will give you time to set up and get familiar with the equipment, as well as receive your briefing.

After the drill, we will have a debrief.  You should be done no later than 1600.

There will be two types of operators needed for the county radio room.  Net control operators and packet operators.

The net control position in the county radio room  preference is given to existing MACs and MITs.  Evaluations will be offered as needed.

The packet position is the county radio room is different and  you gain experience with the automated logging and printing software installed at the county.  Again, preference is given to existing MACs and MITs.

Directions:  The County EOC is located on the 4th floor of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's office, located at 55 W. Younger Ave., San Jose.  Enter the front and go to the window at the left of the lobby.  Inform the deputy that you need to go up to the EOC.  You will need to exchange your driver's license for a temporary badge.  The deputy will unlock the door to your right.  Go through the door and up the elevator to the fourth floor.  Exit the elevator and walk down the hall that is straight ahead and slightly to the left.  Enter the EOC and you'll see us.  You will need to get a parking pass for the C lot across the street and move you car before the drill starts

The following positions are available for this event. You can state your preference when you sign up for the event. The event coordinator will attempt to accommodate your request. Based on the event and its requirements, the event coordinator may move hams to positions other than those requested.
