Annual Los Gatos Children's Holiday Parade

Date: 12/03/16 Start: 9:00 AM End: 2:00 PM Location: Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos, CA
Credential Credit (What's this?): No

The 60th annual Los Gatos Children’s Christmas Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday,  December 3rd in downtown Los Gatos. The parade starts at 11:00 AM and will run until somewhere between 1pm and 2pm.

Again, this year, the Los Gatos Lions Club has asked the Los Gatos ARES group to assist in the parade.

This is a low key, low stress way to help out our community and put a smile on all of us “kids”.

We would like to field a team of at least 18 ARES Ham operators for this event. We usually have 9 Los Gatos and 9 other community hams.  The positions can rotate hourly and include stationary operators and parade route roamers.

You will need a “hand held radio (5 W output + spare battery). A better antenna than the “rubber ducky”, and a “speaker-mike” is nice. Wear your ARES or similar bright green vest and dress in layers as it is cold in the morning but may warm up. This is a rain or shine event.

The streets are closed at 9:00 AM so be there early. The Net Control station is at the Town Plaza (corner of Main St and Santa Cruz Ave).  We will have two pop up tents erected and LG DART (our Volunteer Search & Rescue team) will be located adjacent to us on the street.

We will gather at the Net Control location at 10:00 AM for DSW swearing-in for those not having a Los Gatos/Monte Sereno DSW card.  Briefing will follow including last minute information and assignments.

Have your radios programmed for the following frequencies:

* Resource and talk-in frequency will be the W6PIY 2 meter repeater: 147.390 MHz, + offset, PL of 151.4 Hz.

* Primary Simplex frequency is: 147.480 MHz (Los Gatos Tac1)

* Secondary simplex frequency is: 146.595 MHz (Los Gatos Tac2 & CERT )
