This listing is to help us publicize the class to your CERT and other neighborhood groups that might be interested in getting a ham license, especially for Emergency Communications. It's a great way to increase the ranks of your local ARES-RACES team. We see many of our graduates at the County ARES-RACES Saturday classes. The graduates are encouraged to start with the County "Intro ..." and "Fundamentals of Emergency Communications" classes and then continue with all the valuable classes that County A-R puts on for adding to and maintaining emergency radio skills.
This is the 11th Ham Cram put on quarterly as a service to all who wish to support their family and community in an Emergency (or Public Service Event). It is an instructor-led Ham Cram with 4-6 instructors for the day. The slides were originally created by the Saratoga Amateur Radio Association (SARA). This will be the last Technician Ham Cram using the 2014-18 Question Pool.
There have been well over 250 graduates since 2016 with a 95% pass rate. Attendees come principally from Santa Clara County, but have included participants from San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Sacramento counties.
The class starts promptly at 8:00a and ends at 4:00p with breaks for lunch, etc. The FCC Volunteer Examiners (SVVE.org) take over at 4:00p to manage the testing process.
Help us spread the word to everyone who might benefit. There will be additional Ham Cram classes in 2018 on August 4, and November 17.
This class has been rescheduled from the original June 2, 2018 date to accommodate a group request.
