This listing is to help us advertise the class to your CERT and other neighborhood groups that might be interested in getting a ham license. It's a great way to increase the ranks of your local ARES-RACES team. I see many of our graduates at the County ARES-RACES Saturday classes. We encourage all of our graduates to start with the County Intro and Fundamentals of Emergency Communications classes and then continue with all the valuable classes that County ARES-RACES puts on for adding to and maintaining emergency radio skills.
This is the 12th Ham Cram put on quarterly by the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno ARES-RACES group as a service to all who wish to support their family and community in an Emergency (or Public Service Event). It is an instructor-led Ham Cram with 4-6 instructors for the day. The slides were originally created by the Saratoga Amateur Radio Association (SARA).
There have been well over 250 graduates since 2016 with a 95% pass rate. Attendees come principally from Santa Clara County, but have included participants from San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Hollister, and Sacramento; even one visiting from NJ.
The class starts promptly at 8:00a and ends at 4:00p with lunch and other breaks. The FCC Volunteer Examiners (SVVE.org) take over at 4:00p to manage the testing process.
Help us spread the word to everyone who might benefit. There will be an additional ham cram class in 2018 on November 17.
